How 5 Family Brands Are Being Socially Responsible
It’s important to be socially responsible, that’s why so many parents feel good purchasing products they know help the community. Everyone enjoys helping others and improving the environment. The next time you’re shopping for goods for your children, pick something up from one of these socially responsible brands.
1. Wee Urban
The Wee Urban brand of modern, organic baby apparel is proud to support their local economy by producing products that are handmade in Canada. The brand works with several global partners and non-profit organizations. They recently donated a selection of dresses to an orphanage in Guatemala along with a monetary donation to help the orphanage. Aside from donating to several other charities, Wee Urban also recycles its remnants and donates scraps to the art programs at local schools. Wee Urban will also be working with other charitable organizations, Kiva and Because I am a Girl, this year. Kiva offers loans to women in 3rd world countries so they can start a small business and provide for their families. Canada’s Because I am a Girl movement is dedicated to empowering women and girls worldwide by promoting gender equality and girls rights.
Baby Jack Blankets are sensory ribbon tag baby blankets, which provide entertainment, security, and comfort for baby. It is also used as a tactile toy for children with autism and special needs. Each year, Baby Jack Blankets contributes to a select children’s organization to provide comfort where it is needed. In the past they have contributed to Autism Speaks, Celebrate the Military Child, The Special Olympics, Healing Hailey, and more. In 2014 the brand is contributing to the March of Dimes, and specifically Friends of Maddie, to assist families with babies in the NICU.
3. Woombie
The company behind the Woombie baby swaddle, KB Designs, started the Hands Over Hearts Campaign with The Children’s Heart Foundation to educate families on how to help babies sleep more safely and to raise awareness of congenital heart defects. The company sells t-shirts for the cause and all profits from the t-shirt sales are donated to The Children’s Heart Foundation. In addition, 5% of all Woombie sales are donated each year to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
The Rockin’ Green line of eco-friendly cleaning products is safe to use for the whole family and it contains no harsh chemicals so it’s healthy for the environment! Rockin’ Green is involved in several initiatives throughout the year to give back. This year they co-hosted the Great Cloth Diaper Exchange in San Antonio where participants were asked to donate $1 to the Real Diaper Association, which helps make cloth diapering more accessible to parents. During the holidays, Rockin’ Green participates in the Adopt-a-Platoon program to send care packages to troops overseas. The brand also partners with Endeavors Unlimited, which trains and employs individuals with disabilities.
The family behind SleepingBaby.com, the Parkers, invented a unique sleep garment for babies and toddler called the Zipadee-Zip. The Zipadee-Zip has grown from a $700 initial investment to a million dollar business. The Parker family is dedicated to helping parents raise healthy, happy children and sharing their values with others to spread their positivity. They’re all about giving back and sharing their success with others so they recently donated $5,000 to the Boopa’s Family 5k/10k race. All proceeds from the race went to benefit the Down Syndrome Partnership of North Texas. Sleepingbaby.com looks forward to expanding their charitable contributions in the future.
